Hi ,

I hope this quick note finds you well and able to focus on the positive things going in your life and the world at large.

Over the past eight weeks, my thoughts have often returned to the conversation I had with social entrepreneur and police accountability advocate, Brandon Anderson for the Civic Hacker Summit. Just 3 years ago, we connected to discuss the tool and platform he developed to capture individuals' interactions with the police, RAHEEM.

Given the conversations so many communities are having right now about the inequities and violence ingrained in police operations, I'm grateful for the knowledge that people like Brandon have already been hard at work using their gifts to address these issues at a systemic level. Read the write-up here.>>

My thoughts are with all of you out there investing your time and talent to implement civic tech that engages with the most pressing issues in our communities. For those who are wondering how they can help, or where to start, the Civic Hacker Network is here to help and support you. Reach out to me via email or in Slack any time if you need help with your efforts to create change, wherever you are in the process.

Be well,
- LORI -

"There are a lot of people who have said that they are afraid in this moment... [W]hen we are at our best, I think that our fear works in concert with our other emotions but it doesn't overpower them, that part of our work as organizers, as activists, as citizens is to acknowledge the fear and do the work anyway." - Deray McKesson / Pod Save The People / Jul.4.17

P.S.: Who else should see this email?? Don't be stingy - forward it to them! I'll definitely be sharing this information with people I know who are on the journey to advocating for accountability and change in their local justice systems.
